French Island drug overdose death leads to reckless homicide charge

A 47-year-old suspect is being charged with reckless homicide in La Crosse County, five months after an apparent drug overdose death on French Island.

Town of Campbell police arrested Todd Pfaff this week for allegedly contributing to a death that happened in July at a La Crescent Street residence.

La Crosse County Judge Elliott Levine set bond in court Wednesday for the La Crosse man at $100,000 cash.

A criminal complaint could be filed Friday, when Pfaff has another hearing.

Pfaff also is accused of violating his probation from a meth possession case dating back to 2022.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
