La Crosse man gets reckless homicide charge for supplying fentanyl before deadly overdose
A 47-year-old La Crosse man has now been charged with reckless homicide for allegedly providing drugs to another who died of an overdose last July.
Todd Pfaff was arrested on Dec. 17. Investigators say the victim died on July 24 or 25, after taking drugs at a residence on French Island.
According to a criminal complaint issued last week, a woman who knew the victim had obtained illegal drugs from Pfaff shortly before the death.
Pfaff was already on probation for meth possession in a previous case. When he was arrested on the new charge, Pfaff denied handling fentanyl.
He’s in jail on a $100,000 cash bond and could be sentenced to 60 years in prison if found guilty in the case.
Pfaff next court hearing is Dec. 30 in La Crosse County.
