A fourth person has entered the La Crosse mayor’s race.

Christ Stone’s name has been added to the list of potential candidates to run for mayor.

Shaundel Washington-Spivey, Ellie McLoone and Vicki Markussen are the other three candidates that have announced.

La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds said last month he would not see reelection.

The deadline to have all the appropriate forms and signatures into city hall for both mayor and city council is 5 p.m. Jan. 7.

So far, there could potentially be primaries in both the mayor’s election as well as District 7 of the city council.

A primary occurs when there are three or more candidates.

In District 7, along with incumbent Mac Kiel, Gary Padesky and John Reiman have announced their candidacy.

There are also contested race in all but two council districts.

  • DISTRICT 9: Aron Newberry has announced a run against incumbent Chris Woodard.
  • DISTRICT 11: Crystal Bedford and Martin Gaul are both running.
  • DISTRICT 12: Lisa Weston has announced a run against incumbent Doug Happel.
  • DISTRICT 13: Paul Brown is running against incumbent Mark Neumann.

Three districts don’t have contested races at this point.

District 5: Olivia Stine, District 8: Mackenzie Mindel and District 10: Jennifer Trost.

As for school board, no word from the La Crosse district how many people are running for three seats or whether the incumbents board president Juan Jimenez, Merideth Garcia or Katie Berkedal are going for relection.

Last year, the three seats up for election on school board were open seats, as three incumbents announced they would not seek reelection. Only two candidates qualified for the ballot. But that third seat ended up having multiple write-in candidates announce after the deadline.
