Police rescue driver, who sailed vehicle over driveway and ended up on its side — alcohol likely a factor

The car had gone airborne, flying over a driveway, before landing on its side in a Trempealeau County ditch.

The driver, likely to get charged with drinking and driving.

The police chief from Independence, Wis., just happened to be driving to another call when he saw the vehicle, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office.

They said the chief, and a Trempealeau County deputy, were able to free the driver, who was transported for treatment by an Arcadia ambulance.

The vehicle apparently left County Road A near Highway 93 early Saturday morning, and went airborne over the driveway before landing and rolling onto its side.

The crash was reported around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
