Christmas week has arrived, and it’s the peak of the holiday light season for our area. You may have already viewed outdoor light displays in your own neighborhood, and judging by the mild forecast we’ve been hearing about, there could be a few good nights ahead for walking down a brightly-lighted street, or going to a large display like La Crosse’s Rotary Lights. And of course La Crosse isn’t the only area community where you can view lots of lights. You can try Onalaska, and La Crescent. And I’ve seen a large lot of lighted trees in Sparta. When I was a kid, my family did most of its holiday decorating indoors. No inflatable Santa or reindeer on the lawn for us. By the time we got a house with a large front window, we would leave the drapes open at night so folks outside could see our living room tree, and we’d put strings of lights above the window and near the front door. I applaud the folks who have large light displays and decorations for Christmas. As a familiar song says, it helps to make the season bright. I’m Brad Williams.
