Onalaska’s Donarski scores 13, as 17th-ranked Tar Heels fall to No. 3 Notre Dame
Things don’t get much easier for Onalaska native Lexi Donarski and the North Carolina women’s basketball team, which goes from playing No. 3 Notre Dame over the weekend to hosting No. 14 Duke on Thursday night.
Donarski had, perhaps, her best game of the season for the 17th-ranked Tar Heels, who fell 76-66 to Notre Dame on Sunday.
Donarski scored 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. The senior added four assists and three steals in 32 minutes of action.
The only losses by North Carolina (13-3) this season have now come against ranked teams — and two of those in the Top 3. The Tar Heels also lost to No. 2 UConn (69-58) and No. 25 Georgia Tech (82-76), along with Notre Dame, which was up 42-18 at halftime in this matchup.
Donarski, in her final collegiate season, is third on the team in scoring (9.5 points). That’s the lowest average of her career, but North Carolina’s scoring is distributed very evenly. Their top six players average between 11.8-7.1 points.
Donarski is shooting 41.2% from the field and 37.4% from beyond the arc, hitting 2.1 3-pointers per game. She’s also at 1.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals a contest.
