Michael Popp entered the plea during a court appearance in Vernon County. He was arrested in September of last year for the 1985 death of Dolowy, a UW-La Crosse student, whose headless body was found burning in a ditch days after she was reported missing.

No trial date has been set for Popp, but his next court hearing is scheduled for June 9 in Viroqua.

Both Popp and Doloway were 21 years old back in 1985. Popp is 61 now.

New tests indicating that Popp’s semen was present in Dolowy’s body at her death resulted from an autopsy on the victim, and the evidence was presented by a Wisconsin state investigator during a hearing in December.
