Suspect arrested in Elroy for triple murder, including two children, after a search lasted over a week

Murder suspect Virgil Thew of New Lisbon was captured in Elroy, Wis., on Thursday.

New Lisbon police searched for Thew in connection with a triple-murder of a 33-year-old woman and two girls aged 12 and 13.

The victims were found shot to death on Dec. 30 at a New Lisbon residence. Police said Thew knew the victims.

The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that Thew was seen in Elroy late Thursday morning. He was arrested within a half-hour.

Elizabeth Kolba and the two girls were found shot to death inside the New Lisbon home.

Thew could make a court appearance on Friday.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
