La Crosse Schools superintendent Engel on school shootings, emergency drills, metal detectors
School District of La Crosse superintendent, Dr. Aaron Engel, joins to discuss the what students do in terms of school shooting drills, a few weeks after the Madison shooting. In relation to that, we also talked about metal detectors in schools and the state’s Office of School Safety.
La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.
We began the conversation about “snow days,” as it was -1 degrees out while we were talking and what the temp needs to be to at least delay school.
After that, we hit on the school board race for a minute and what the district’s involvement is there. La Crosse has seven candidates so there will be a Feb. 18 primary to cut that number to six.
Three seats are up for election. The candidates are:
- Jeff Jackson
- Adam Hoffer
- Sam Morris
- Molly Fuchs
- Joy Buchman
- Kevin Hundt
- Merideth Garcia (incumbent).
