After moving Cameron Park Farmers Market, La Crosse organization gets approval to shut down parts of Main Street
Back in November, La Crosse’s Park Board approved moving the farmers market that’s long been a Friday staple out of Cameron Park.
The approved move to Burns Park came with more requests Monday by the farmers market organizers to the city.
The La Crosse Farmers’ Market Association asked the Board of Public Works to block off Main Street, between 7th and 8th, so vendors could set up and potentially sell from their vehicles.
Main Street in that area would shut down from 1-7:30 p.m. Fridays. The market itself runs from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Burns Park from May through October.
City engineer Matt Gallagher noted that traffic on Main Street sees 5,000-10,000 vehicles daily.
The board unanimously approved the request on a 5-0 vote.

Move the problem around rather than addressing the root cause. The tax payer suffers. I HOPE there is a common sense Mayor that is elected.

This article should be filled out with the cause of the move and what will be done to prevent this cause in the future. After being caught between two homeless people screaming at one another, we just didn’t care to attend the market at Cameron Park any longer.
I go to the La Crescent Farmers Market because you can actually use the picnic table in the park because they aren’t filled with drug addicts.
