Arcadia man hits Wisconsin State Trooper before 100 mph chase in Trempealeau County

A 47-year-old Arcadia man allegedly hit a state trooper while fleeing a stop by law enforcement, then led them on a high-speed chase through Trempealeau County that sometimes exceeded 100 mph and ended with him crashing into a pole.

The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office stated that driver Michael Peterson was questioned in Arcadia on Tuesday after callers told police about someone who was yelling at people nearby.

The sheriff’s office said Peterson then took off from the scene, running into a trooper, causinga minor injury. The trooper was treated at a hospital.

Law enforcement said it pursued Peterson for about 15 miles, at speeds sometimes exceeding 100 miles an hour, before he crashed into a power pole in Centerville.

L Peterson is suspected of battery to a law officer and endangering safety.

According to records online, Peterson had not appeared in court yet as of late Wednesday.
