A crash between a semi and a Minnesota DOT snow plow was behind the closure of I-90 Sunday morning at the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.

The crash happened around 6:20 a.m. at the bottom of the Wisconsin side of the I-90 bridge over the Mississippi River in the westbound lanes. Due to the type of crash, the eastbound lanes were also closed.

The interstate was closed until about 9:40 a.m.

MnDOT snowplows will turn around at a crossing at the bottom of the bridge when they are clearing snow or ice.

Wisconsin State Patrol Sgt. Charlotte Gyllin said one driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries but didn’t say which was hurt.

The investigation continues into what happened at the scene.

Traffic was detoured on both sides of the river while crews worked at the scene.

Gyllin added that there was good collaboration between all the local, county and state agencies involved on both sides of the river as they worked to get the scene cleared.
