State Road Elementary School open house showing off part of $53.5 million expansion plans

The La Crosse School District later this week shows off its plans to expand State Road Elementary as they prepare to move students and faculty from Hintgen Elementary.
The move is part of a $53.5 million referendum that passed last November.
“We want this building to reflect our broader values and principles, and to get suggestions from folks so that we can make it as good as we can with the limited budget that we have,” La Crosse Schools superintendent, Dr. Aaron Engel, said Monday on WIZM’s La Crosse Talk. “So, we’re inviting folks in on Thursday to come to State Road, check out the site, get building tours, and there’ll be opportunities to chat with the architect and provide feedback on what folks want to see in that building.”
La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk wherever you get your podcasts.
The school expansion will add eight classrooms and a gym to the site.
The open house is from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the school, where attendees can see plans for expansion.
The district is also offering tours of the building to show where the changes are taking place.
The other parts of the plan include the district closing three elementary schools (Hintgen, Emerson, Spence), while tearing down the Hogan Administration building to put up a new elementary school.
Students from Emerson and Spence would move into the new building, while most of Hintgen goes to the State Road school.

I really wish that the school district would find a way to expand Hogan instead tearing it down.
