A sign of the cold weather we're experiencing in the La Crosse area.

Look for the very cold winter weather to stick around for a few more days.

Temperatures in the area once again fall below zero at night through Thursday.

During the day on Tuesday and Wednesday, you can expect highs only in the single digits.

For some parts of southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa, the National Weather Service has a Cold Weather Advisory taking effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday until noon on Wednesday.

On the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River, the advisory starts at midnight and goes until 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Regardless of what side of the river you’re on, anyone outside faces very cold wind chills anywhere from -30 to -35 below zero.

Exposed skin can get frostbite in as little as 10 minutes.

The good news for most is that temperatures start to rebound this weekend with highs in the 30s and low 40s with a high forecast for Monday of 43 degrees.
