The prosecution and defense in a La Crosse County homicide case, from six years ago, are talking about possible ways to reach a settlement.

St. Junious

Anquin St. Junious is accused of reckless homicide in the 2019 stabbing death of Virgil Stewart, inside a taxi parked on 7th Street in La Crosse.

St. Junious of the Milwaukee area appeared briefly by video before a La Crosse judge Thursday. He’ll have another hearing next week.

At a hearing back in December, the house arrest for St. Junious was lifted, but he was told that he cannot enter La Crosse County for now.

St. Junious has argued that house arrest was limiting his opportunity to find work.

No trial date has been set. His next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 26.

Why is this murder case not decided yet after all these years? What is wrong with La Crosse? Too many liberal judges giving out slaps on the hand and murder suspects living outside of La Crosse? Why isn’t he in police custody here? Who dropped the ball here. That article says nothing, no explanation, no resolution, he’s just free, living in Milwaukee (under house arrest). Where, The Ritz or a fancy hotel. This story is incomplete as we also have mediocre local writers that can’t finish a story or explain to those who lost a friend or brother to this suspect? Put him on trial & get it over with.

yes this is pathetic. How can a murder suspect not be tried after six years. I also agree our judges are terrible. Another example of we get the government we deserve. The judges are elected but no one runs against them unless they were appointed. It’s pretty much a “no outsiders welcome” group. when there is an open seat they bring out all the past judges to endorse the person who will agree with the groups agenda. Not that it really matters because as we saw with the last election the over whelming percentage of eligible voters can’t be bothered with going to the polls. As to the story not being in depth at least they covered the story which no one else seems to care about.
