Pop-ups pass at Park Commissioners meeting

A couple of pop-up events are approved on Thursday by La Crosse’s Board of Park Commissioners.

The first item continues the pop-up dog park in Burns Park until April 1. The board discussed the fact that the farmers market is moving into Burns Park in May. Having a month in between the two allows the city to make any repairs or restoration to the grass or ground before the market begins.

The board briefly discussed finding a permanent location downtown for a dog park with one option being Cameron Park.

The other pop-up event approved was allowing the La Crosse Farmers Market holding pop-up markets at Crowley Park near UW-La Crosse. Those would run every other Saturday starting June 14 through October 18. The approval is contingent on organizers getting all the needed city and county approvals and permits. It includes getting a Special Event Permit from the City Clerk’s office.

The board also agreed to a request from the American Cruise Line to dock its excursion boats at Riverside Park for the next 10 years. The agreement ultimately needs final approval from the full city council.
