Delta showing renewed interest in La Crosse flights, two years after ending service in the area

The chance of getting Delta Airlines back to La Crosse has gotten better, according to one local official with the La Crosse Regional Airport.
Business manager J.D. Roberts says Delta is open to the idea of restoring service to the local airport, two years after the company ended its regular flights through LSE.

“There’s a couple different ways we could do it, with Delta or with a regional carrier like Sky West flying Delta planes up there,” says Roberts. “They definitely said, let’s talk, let’s have some more information.” American is the only airline now providing regular flights at the La Crosse airport. Roberts attended a recent industry conference where he made contact with six different airlines.
“They will meet with airports, and things like that, trying to further conversations,” Roberts said. He called the recent discussions “really successful.” Roberts says a pilot shortage was a major reason why Delta ended its regular service to La Crosse, but the shortage has abated. Besides service by American Airlines, Sun Country will soon begin a bus transfer service between La Crosse and Minneapolis, around the 1st of April.

I tried to fly from LaCrosse last year on American. Would have been two stops before my final destination.
Drove to Rochester took transportation and flew directly out of Minneapolis. Total cost was still hundreds less than out of LaCrosse.
Competition is needed for American.
I will be flying later this year and not even considering LaCrosse even though the airport is ten minutes away
