Highs in La Crosse may get to 50s this week, with snow cover gradually melting

The month of February will be ending this week, and La Crosse’s cold spell seems to be ending as well.
On Saturday, La Crosse’s high of 30 was the highest temperature seen in the city in 16 days, and it ended a 5-day stretch of sub-zero low temperatures. The weather service says the snow depth in La Crosse has dropped below 5 inches for the first time in over a week.

A high above 50 is being forecast for Friday, and Monday’s high could come close to 50, following two weeks of temperatures mostly below normal. The annual Polar Plunge on the Black River is scheduled for this Saturday.
The city had daily low temps below zero from Monday through Friday of last week.
