Two dead in gas leak at Monroe County home

A man and a juvenile female are dead after a gas leak at a home near Oakdale in Monroe County on Sunday evening.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said that they got a call just before 5 p.m. The caller said there was a possibility of multiple deaths and a gas leak at a home on Hobby Road. The person said they’d gone to the residence after failing to hear from the people that lived there.

When they went into the home, the person found an unresponsive juvenile female and a strong smell of gas.

The person pulled the juvenile from the home. Despite efforts by emergency workers, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The emergency workers got the gas turned off so they could safely enter the home.

Inside, they found a deceased man along with the bodies of a dog and cat.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation found the source of the gas.

There wasn’t any information that there was any foul play involved.

The names of the two people who died weren’t released.
