A 43-year-old La Crosse man faces a reckless homicide charge, in connection with a drug-related death that happened more than a year ago.

Erik Sims is suspected of supplying a deadly dose of fentanyl to a woman who died of an overdose in 2023. A criminal complaint against Sims was filed last month.

Sims has a pre-trial evidence hearing scheduled for March 7th. He was given a $10,000 signature bond, and is ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family.

Sims was convicted in La Crosse County in 2022, in a firearm-related felony case.
