Everyone got out safely after a house fire Thursday morning on La Crosse’s south side.

Several crews were at the fire at 2424 14th Street South.

Battalion Chief Lance Tryggestad said that a passerby called 911 to report the fire in the chimney around 8 a.m.

He said some fire was coming from the chimney when they arrived.

The fire “escalated quickly” to the attic area of the home according to the battalion chief.

No one was hurt.

The department is still looking into what led to the fire.
