An Internal Revenue office in La Crosse is now a part of the Trump Administration’s effort to reduce the footprint of the federal government across the country.

Listed on the doge.gov website is the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Office located at 425 State Street on the second floor of the Post Office building.

The site said Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. that the 2,165 square foot space is leased at a cost of $36,199 a year, or a total savings of $180,995 over five years assuming a 5-year continuation of the lease.

However, later Wednesday morning, at 11:30 a.m., the entry had changed. It now says that there are no total savings.

WIZM News has contacted the IRS to get more information and is waiting on a reply on what and who would be affected by ending the lease.

There are 16 different sites around Wisconsin that are listed on the DOGE website for lease terminations.

A total, as of Wednesday morning, 748 locations in the country are listed in the lease termination section. The site says there’s a savings of $468 million.

They should terminate the lease and force those lazy gov employees working from home to go into the office.
