Flags across Wisconsin will fly at half-staff on Saturday for an emergency medical responder and firefighter from the Warrens area who passed away late last month in the line of duty.

Governor Tony Evers announced Friday that his order is to honor the life of Lori Boelkes. She passed away at the age of 56 on February 27 after suffering a stroke on February 14.

She spent the last year working with the Warrens Area Fire Department. Prior to that, Boelkes was a member of the New Auburn Area Fire Department.

According to the Warrens Area Fire District Facebook page, a visitation happens tomorrow morning from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by a service. Both take place at the Warrens Area Fire District Fire Station in Warrens.

After the service, a procession of emergency vehicles will lead people to a luncheon at St. Matthew’s Church outside of town.

The governor’s flag order is in effect from sunrise to sunset on Saturday.
