Carwashes busy places this weekend. Here’s why

If you drove by just about any area carwash this weekend, you probably saw long lines of vehicles waiting to go through.

Texas and Oklahoma were to blame, sort of.

It was due to the weather that blew through the Coulee Region Friday night and Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, strong winds in Texas and Oklahoma picked up dirt and dust from those states and brought it into the atmosphere. It moved north towards western Minnesota mixed with the storm system that swept through the Upper Mississippi region Friday night into Saturday. They said some wildfire smoke was a part of the mix as well.

All the dust and dirt came out of the atmosphere as what the weather service called “dirty rain” that covered vehicles across the region and made lots of money for carwash owners.
