A defense attorney for Adam Fravel has filed an appeal of Fravel’s conviction in the Madeline Kingsbury murder.

The southern Minnesota man was found guilty at a trial last year of killing his ex-girlfriend in early 2023.

Kingsbury was reported missing in the spring that year. Searches were conducted until her remains were found in the Mabel, Minn., area weeks later — hidden in a culvert.

The trial was moved from Winona to Mankato because of extensive publicity. At his sentencing in December, Fravel was ordered to spend life in prison without parole for the slaying.
