Reminder to have the right kind of ID for voting

Published

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation wants to remind people to see if they have the right form of ID in order to vote for the upcoming April 1st Election.

Most of the common ones, such as a driver’s license, are acceptable to use at the polls. The Wisconsin Elections Commission said that other forms of ID including a military or student ID are also valid.

While having a federally compliant REAL ID card will work, they said that it isn’t required to vote.

The commission’s website has details on what the requirements are for an ID. Click here to see them.

The DMV offers free ID cards for anyone needing an ID to vote. They are available at any DNR Customer Service Center.

If a card won’t be available in time for the election, the DMV can provide you with a receipt that’s accepted at the polling location.
