Yard waste site opens on Monday

While it doesn’t seem very spring-like today, the City of La Crosse is getting ready to open its Brush and Yard Waste site on Isle La Plume on Monday morning.

The biggest change this year for city residents is a $25 fee to use the site.

Each vehicle wanting to dump grass clippings, leaves, or brush off needs to be registered with the city.

There’s a $25 cost per year for each vehicle.

Buying a sticker is done either through the city’s website, click here, or purchasing one at City Hall during lobby hours Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In person buys can use cash, checks, a credit or debit card, or money order. Online purchases require a credit or debit card.

Once payment is received, the city will mail the sticker to the resident. Until then, your receipt for the purchase is valid as proof of purchase.

People wanting to use the food waste and compost area don’t need a sticker.

The site is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.

It is closed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

On the weekends, it is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From April 21-May 2, the city is picking up brush from the curbside of residences.

Brushes can be tied in bundles but must be less than four feet long and weigh less than 50 pounds.
