Arrest made after man shot with pellet gun in Winona

Second degree assault charges are pending against a Winona man for shooting another person in the arm with a pellet gun on Thursday.

Around 3 p.m., officers got a call to the 500 block of Mankato Avenue after getting a report of a man shot in the arm.

At the scene, they found the man was shot with a pellet gun. He went to Winona Health for treatment of the wound.

After investigating, police got a search warrant for a home a block away on E. 11th Street.

Inside they found multiple pellet guns. After talking with several people inside the home, John Edward Mullen, 35, was arrested.

He’s held in the Winona County Jail on a 2nd Degree Assault charge.

A statement from Winona Police said it appears this incident was isolated. There is no threat to the public.
