Prairie Springs Science Center plans stall

Just a couple of weeks ago, Governor Tony Evers visited UW-La Crosse, promoting plans for a second building for the Prairie Springs Science Center on campus.
Evers was optimistic about getting approval this year to fund construction of the science building.
But the La Crosse project has stalled again, along with prisons, health facilities, and other buildings included in the governor’s budget plans.
Members of the state building commission tied 4-to-4 on the spending plans, preventing them from advancing to the Joint Finance Committee.
Some Republican legislators have said the spending plan is too big and hasn’t gotten enough public comment.
La Crosse area legislators Brad Pfaff and Jill Billings, both Democrats, are both members of the building commission.
The first building has been open at UWL for almost a decade.

The budget is stalled because the progressive WI Supreme Court has delayed its decision to rule on Gov Evers abuse of his veto pen when he changed the last budget to increase school funding incrementally each year for 400 years. The budget committee is unwilling to advance a budget until that issue is resolved, of course. They don’t want a repeat of the governor’s deceipt.
If they do want input on what the public thinks about spending on building 2 of Prairie Springs there is a facebook page entitled something like “1,345 reasons why we need to replace Cowley Hall.” It is hilarious and virtually no commentor supports funding this project. To summarize: “maintain the buildings you have.”
