Supreme Court candidate Crawford courts votes at union hall in La Crosse

One Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate has stopped in La Crosse as part of a final statewide swing before next Tuesday’s election.

Dane County Judge Susan Crawford spoke on Tuesday to supporters at the Carpenters union hall in La Crosse’s industrial park. Crawford is backed by state Democrats, as she runs for an open seat against conservative Brad Schimel.

The Dane County judge criticizes Elon Musk for reportedly spending several million dollars to support Schimel. Also, Crawford is encouraged by early voting trends, showing an interest in the court race.

“Early voting has been really strong throughout the state,” Crawford told reporters. “I think that’s a great sign that people are really engaged in this race and understand what the stakes are.” She hopes the turnout will continue to be strong through election day on April 1st.

Though Crawford has strong support from Democrats, she wants to avoid a party label. She also says that Schimel has spoken of wanting to be part of President Trump’s network of backers, and she argues that the state Supreme Court should not be an arm of the Trump administration. The left-right makeup of the seven-member court will depend on who wins Tuesday’s election, with the other six seats divided evenly between liberals and conservatives.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.

Don’t do it Wisconsin, don’t vote for this woman. She will not provide an unbiased review of the law.

She doesn’t want this Supreme Court race to be seen as a partisan race, an arm of the Trump administration…..as she is shown in the picture with the La Crosse County Democratic party operatives.

Remember when the symbol of courts was the blindfolded justice, weighing the scales of evidence? This woman’s mind is already, rigidly made up on all the important issues of the day. As Judge Janet would say “It’s rigged.”

She wants to avoid a party label? TOO DARN LATE. She keeps showing up with Democrats. First abortion and then she has already stated parts of Ativle 10. The lawsuit for Article 10 is already in motion.

Whatever you do Wisconsin, do not vote for this partisan hack. She has already said she will do what the last judge put on the State Supreme Court said and did to destroy our state constitution and change existing laws.

Nice of the union to lend its hall for this event; too bad most of its union members voted for Trump and will vote against Crawford. The non-members also will vote against Crawford to preserve Wisconsin’s “right to work” law Act 10 saving themselves $200 a month dues the union would otherwise collect only to support causes the members don’t believe in.
