Nineteen-year-old Jaysen Moran will be scheduled for trial for wounding a 17-year-old victim in the arm in a gunfire incident on March 9 on Logan Street.

La Crosse Police Detective Tom Hansen testified on Friday about a confrontation between two groups of people, including individuals as young as 13. Hansen says Moran was in one group, and brought a gun to the site.

Moran’s attorney says the accusation that Moran fired a gun doesn’t make sense.

Prosecutor Nick Passe says the charge that Moran brought a weapon makes the offense serious.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Court Commissioner Kara Burgos reduced Moran’s bond for the second time in a week, from $75,000 down to $50,000.

Moran is expected back in court before Judge Elliott Levine on April 8 when he and his attorney are expected to ask that the case be dismissed.
