One family’s home was damaged in a fire late Monday night in Westby.

Just before 11 p.m., the Westby-Christiana Fire Department was sent to 302 West State Street in Westby, said Chief Spencer Lee.

As they were heading to the home, a Westby Police officer radioed that flames were visible in the kitchen area in the rear of the home. They also learned that everyone was out of the home.

Crews extinguished the fire in the kitchen. As they did so, they found that the fire had spread to the second floor of the home. That was put out as well.

The department was at the home for about three-and-a-half hours.

Chief Lee said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
