People in the community can get rid of any old documents at a free shredding event coming up in La Crosse.

It’s put on by Harter’s Quick Clean Up.

It runs from 8-noon on Friday and Saturday April 18 and 19 at 2850 Larson Street in the industrial park.

People can bring in up to 100 pounds of documents for shredding for free. There’s a charge if there’s more than that.

Manager Laccen Comstock said that the company is certified to handle confidential document disposal.

He also says these events are typically pretty busy.

“So last spring we had over 1,000 cars come through here both Friday and Saturday. We were shredding like it was going out of style. We had to dump our 40-yard compactor box twice it was so full of shred after everyone stopped through.“

Comstock said they’ll have signs out directing people to the shredding event.

If you aren’t able to make it to this one, Harter’s plans to hold another free shredding event in the fall.
