Richland Center woman arrested twice in one day for OWI

A Richland Center woman is facing two OWI charges after getting arrested twice in the same day for driving under the influence.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office released details of what happened.
It happened Tuesday morning around 10:35 a.m. when court security staff told the sheriff’s office that Julie A. Arbegust, 60, came to a courtroom possibly under the influence.
After a deputy found her vehicle in the parking lot, they talked to Arbegust. They determined she showed signs of impairment when she drove to the courthouse.
Deputies took her into custody and booked her at the jail on a charge of OWI-3rd offense.
Once the booking was complete, she was released to a responsible party.
However, she was seen getting behind the wheel of her vehicle and leaving the courthouse.
A sheriff’s deputy tracked her down and re-arrested her for driving under the influence plus an additional charge of misdemeanor bail jumping.
A court hearing is pending.

This is what’s called an alcohol use disorder.. Let me get this straight. This woman was arrested for her third OWI, and yet she was released to drive again. Then she does exactly that and is rebooked into the jail for what appears to be her fourth OWI with the third and fourth occurring on the same day. A trial is pending so it sounds like she’s been released from jail again to drive another day. I ask, when will the state of Wisconsin take drunk driving seriously.?

She had a few drinks before her court appearance so she looked like her picture on her driver’s license.
