The city’s annual spring brush collection begins on April 21 in La Crosse.

The city’s Refuse and Recycling Department said that residents can have bundles less than four feet long tied together with a cotton string and not weighing more than 50 pounds.

They’re defining brush as branches and tree limbs with diameters from 1/4 into to 8 inches.

Once bundled, brush should be placed on the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday, April 21.

Anything larger than that they won’t pick up.

They also aren’t picking up leaves, grass clippings, or other debris mixed into it.

Logs, stumps, and root balls aren’t accepted either.

The city’s brush and yard waste site on Isle La Plume is open for residents to drop off those types of items. You will need to have a permit sticker to haul brush to the drop off site.

Isle La Plume is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed Wednesday through Friday.

The site is closed on Sunday, April 20 for Easter. There won’t be any access to the compost or wood chip piles.
